En bref· Quick answer
Bonjour Calgary is sponsored by REPYYC and, at launch, sells no advertising or placements. In the future it may offer clearly labelled directory placements, event or section sponsorships and local business features. Payment will never change a fact, a moderation decision, or a guide. Every paid element will be labelled.
- At launch: no advertising, no paid placements, no sponsored stories.
- The site's only funding is REPYYC's sponsorship, disclosed on every page.
- Future paid elements will be labelled on the page and limited to placement, never content.
- Guides, directory facts and moderation are never for sale.
- Questions: info@repyyc.com.
A community site needs a way to pay for itself. We would rather tell you how that works now, before there is anything to sell, than surprise you later.
How the site is funded today
Bonjour Calgary is sponsored by REPYYC, Real Estate Partners at Real Broker. The sponsorship pays for building and maintaining the site. In exchange, the housing section presents Frank Clement’s real estate services and his professional network. That relationship is disclosed on the about page, in the footer of every page, and on the housing pages themselves.
Nothing else is sold. There are no advertisements, no paid placements, no sponsored stories and no affiliate links at launch.
What may exist later
As the community grows, we may add some of the following. Each would be clearly labelled where it appears.
- Featured directory placements. A business or organization could pay to appear in a highlighted position on a directory category page. The listing itself stays free and factual, and the featured position is labelled “Featured” with a note that it is paid.
- Section or event sponsorships. A sponsor could support a section (for example, the events calendar or the learning section) and be credited there, with a “Supported by” label.
- Local business features. Stories about French-speaking businesses could be sponsored by the business, labelled “Sponsored” at the top, with the sponsor named.
- Network listings. Frank Clement’s professional network is free to join for professionals whose standing we can confirm. If paid tiers are introduced, the difference will be visibility, not inclusion.
What will never be for sale
Payment can change where something appears. It cannot change what we say is true, and it cannot buy a way around the community guidelines or the editorial policy.
Labelling
Every paid element will carry a visible label in both languages: “Sponsored” / « Commandité », “Featured (paid)” / « En vedette (payant) », or “Supported by” / « Avec l’appui de ». Labels are part of the page, not hidden in a tooltip, and they appear in the page metadata too.
Conflicts of interest
Because the sponsor is a real estate team, we take particular care with housing content. Housing guides describe the process in Alberta and link to the Real Estate Council of Alberta and official sources. They do not steer readers toward Frank’s services as the only option, and the “Questions to ask an agent” guide applies to Frank as much as to anyone. The professional network lists people who applied and whose standing could be confirmed; a listing is not an endorsement.
Directory versus advertising
The distinction matters enough to state twice. A directory listing exists because an organization serves people in French in Calgary; it is free, factual, sourced and open to correction by anyone. An advertisement, if we ever carry one, exists because someone paid for it; it is labelled, placed in a position reserved for paid content, and never changes the free listing underneath. If you cannot tell which one you are looking at, that is a design failure on our part, and we want to hear about it.
Partnerships
We do not claim partnerships that do not exist. An organization appears in the directory because it serves people in French in Calgary, not because it is a partner. If a real partnership is formed, it will be described in plain words on the relevant page.

Questions people ask
Can I buy a directory listing?
No. Directory listings are free and factual. Any organization or business that serves people in French in Calgary can suggest one. If featured placements are introduced later, they will be labelled and the underlying listing will stay free.
Is Frank Clement's section advertising?
It is the sponsor's commercial section, and it is labelled as such on the page and in the footer disclosure. It is not an advertisement placed by a third party.
Will there be ads from ad networks?
We have no plans for programmatic ad networks or tracking-based advertising. If that ever changed, the privacy policy would change first and say so.
