Privacy policy

What Bonjour Calgary collects, what it does not, where form submissions go, what stays in your browser, and how to ask for access or deletion under PIPEDA and Alberta's PIPA.

En bref· Quick answer

Bonjour Calgary collects as little as possible. No accounts, no advertising cookies, no analytics beyond server-level request counts at launch. Your lesson and checklist progress stays in your browser. Forms collect only what they show, are stored on Cloudflare and alert the team by email. Only a housing inquiry you choose to send reaches Frank's team.

  • No accounts, no profiles, no advertising cookies.
  • Learning progress, checklist progress, Passport badges and language choice are stored in your browser only (localStorage) and never sent to us.
  • Form submissions are stored in a Cloudflare D1 database and an internal alert is emailed via Resend to the team inbox.
  • Marketing consent is a separate, optional checkbox. Unchecked means no marketing, ever.
  • Privacy requests: info@repyyc.com. We answer within 30 days.

This policy explains, in plain language, what Bonjour Calgary does with information about you. It was written to be read, not skimmed past. If anything here does not match what you see on the site, tell us at info@repyyc.com and we will fix the site or the policy, whichever is wrong.

Who is responsible

Bonjour Calgary is published by REPYYC, Real Estate Partners at Real Broker, Suite 101, 7710 5 Street SE, Calgary, AB T2H 2L9. REPYYC is the organization responsible for this site under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). Privacy questions and requests go to info@repyyc.com.

What we do not collect

  • No accounts. There is nothing to sign up for. Every lesson, checklist, guide and event is available without one.
  • No advertising cookies, no ad networks, no social-media pixels.
  • No analytics at launch beyond the request counts our hosting platform records at the server level. If we add privacy-respecting analytics later, this page will say so first, and we will choose a tool that does not profile individuals.
  • No sensitive information. We do not ask for government identification, immigration documents, health details, religion, ethnicity or financial account details, and we do not infer any of them from what you read or submit.

What stays in your browser

Your lesson progress, Calgary Passport badges, checklist progress, saved checklist filters and language preference are stored with your browser’s local storage on your own device. They are never transmitted to us. Clearing your browser’s site data erases them. If you switch devices, they do not follow you, because we have no account to attach them to.

What forms collect, and where it goes

The site has a small number of forms. Each one shows exactly which fields it collects. In every case:

  1. Your submission is stored in a database (Cloudflare D1) attached to the site.
  2. An internal alert email is sent, through the email provider Resend, to the team inbox so that a person can review it.
  3. A moderator reads it. Nothing you submit is published automatically.
Form What it is for Who sees it
Event submission Proposing an event for the community calendar Site moderators
Directory suggestion or correction Adding or fixing a listing Site moderators
Corrections Reporting an error on a page Site moderators
Share your story Proposing a story or interview Site editors
Network application Applying to be listed as a French-speaking professional Site moderators and Frank Clement
Contact General questions Site team
Housing inquiry Asking Frank Clement about buying, selling, renting or relocating Frank Clement and the REPYYC team

Where a form offers marketing updates, it is a separate checkbox, unchecked by default, and optional. Leaving it unchecked has no effect on your submission. If you check it and change your mind, every message includes an unsubscribe link, as required by Canada’s anti-spam legislation (CASL). We do not buy, sell or share mailing lists.

Email we may send

We may email you about your own submission (for example, to ask a clarifying question about an event you proposed) or to reply to a message you sent us. That is a reply, not marketing.

Retention

Submissions are kept as long as they are needed for moderation and for our records of what was published and why, then deleted. You can ask us to delete a submission at any time and we will, unless we are required to keep it (for example, a record of a complaint). Browser-stored data is under your control and is not retained by us at all.

Your rights

Under PIPEDA and PIPA you can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask to correct it, withdraw consent, and complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or Alberta’s Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner. Write to info@repyyc.com; we respond within 30 days.

Hosting and providers

The site is hosted on Cloudflare (Workers and D1). Transactional alert email is sent through Resend. Both are third-party providers with their own privacy terms; data stored with them may be processed in data centres outside Canada. We do not use any other third-party service that receives personal information.

Children

The site is written for adults and families. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; the lessons work without any submission at all.

Guides link to official and community sites. Their privacy practices are their own. We try to link to the official page rather than a tracker-laden intermediary.

Changes

When this policy changes, the last-reviewed date at the top changes too, and material changes are noted in the corrections log.

Questions people ask

Do you use cookies?

We do not set advertising or tracking cookies. The site may use strictly necessary technical storage (for example, to remember your language choice in your own browser). Cloudflare, our host, may set security-related cookies to protect the site from abuse.

Can I delete my lesson progress?

Yes, at any time, from the progress page or by clearing your browser's site data. It only ever existed on your device.

If I submit an event, will I get marketing emails?

No. Event, directory, correction, story and network submissions are reviewed by a moderator and used only for that purpose. We may email you about your submission itself.

Where is my data stored?

Form submissions are stored in Cloudflare's D1 database service and the alert email is sent through Resend. Both are cloud providers; the storage location is a Cloudflare data centre, which may be outside Canada.
