Editorial policy

How Bonjour Calgary writes, sources, dates, reviews and corrects its content, how editorial work is kept separate from REPYYC's commercial interest, and how sponsored content and AI assistance are disclosed.

En bref· Quick answer

Every factual page on Bonjour Calgary has an author, a last-reviewed date and links to official sources. Facts are never for sale. Sponsored content is labelled. Interviews require consent. Drafts may be prepared with AI tools and are reviewed by people, and a fluent French editor reviews important pages before launch. Errors are corrected and logged.

  • Author, publication date and last-reviewed date on every article and guide.
  • Official sources linked on every factual guide; no invented hours, fees, rules or statistics.
  • Community and editorial content is separate from REPYYC's real estate services, which are labelled commercial.
  • Sponsored stories carry a visible label. Nobody can pay to change a fact or a moderation decision.
  • Corrections are made on the page and logged, with the review date updated.

Bonjour Calgary publishes practical guides, explainers, stories, event listings and a directory. People make decisions based on them: which school to register for, which registry office to visit, whether an event is on tonight. That responsibility is the reason for this policy.

Authorship and dates

Every article and guide shows who wrote it and when it was last reviewed. Most guides are written by the Bonjour Calgary editorial team; named contributors are credited by name. Stories carry a publication date in addition to the review date. If a page has not been reviewed in more than a year, we treat it as due for review and say so when we know a fact may have changed.

Sources

Factual guides link to the official source for each fact: the City of Calgary, the Government of Alberta, the Government of Canada, Calgary Transit, school boards, regulators, and the community organizations themselves. We fetch and check each link before citing it. Where a figure changes often (a transit fare, a fee, a rent figure) we describe where to find it rather than freezing a number that will go stale. Where we quote a number, we attach the source and the date we checked it.

We do not invent opening hours, fees, eligibility rules, wait times, statistics, demographics, safety claims, organizations, testimonials, partners or quotes. If we cannot verify something, we leave it out or label it clearly as unverified.

Language

Our French is written in French, by people who write French, and our English is written in English. We do not run one through a translator to produce the other. The two versions of a page say the same things and may phrase them differently. A fluent French editor reviews the important pages before launch, and the review date reflects that pass when it happens.

Independence from the sponsor

Bonjour Calgary is published and funded by REPYYC, a real estate team, and Frank Clement is the person behind it. We handle that openly:

  • Real estate services are presented in one section, labelled commercial on the page. Brokerage disclosures appear in the footer of every page.
  • Community content (guides, events, directory, lessons, stories) is written for its own usefulness. It is not written to generate housing inquiries, and using it never adds you to a sales process.
  • Housing guides describe the process in Alberta and link to the regulator and official sources. They do not promise outcomes or quote market statistics without a dated, licensed or official source.
  • Frank’s professional network lists people who applied and whose standing we could confirm. A listing is not an endorsement, and the page says so.

If a story, feature or listing is paid for by a third party, it carries a visible “Sponsored” label at the top, names the sponsor, and is marked in the page’s metadata as well. Sponsors can propose topics; they cannot approve the text, add claims we cannot verify, or remove facts. Guides and directory entries are never sponsored. At launch, there is no sponsored content on the site.

Interviews and personal stories

We publish interviews and first-person stories only with the written consent of the people in them. Contributors see the text before publication and can withdraw at any time, including after publication. We do not publish children’s names or faces without a parent or guardian’s consent. We do not pay for interviews and do not accept payment for them.

AI assistance

Drafts of guides and explainers may be prepared with the help of AI writing tools. That assistance is a drafting step, not a publication step: a person checks every fact against the linked sources, reads the French as French, and takes responsibility for the result under the author line. If a page was published without that human review, that is an error under this policy, and we want to hear about it.

Corrections

Every guide ends with a “Report an error or an update” link. When a correction is confirmed, we fix the page, update its last-reviewed date and record the change in the corrections log. Significant corrections (a wrong eligibility rule, a wrong date for an event) are noted on the page itself. We do not quietly rewrite history.

Events and the directory

Event listings show the organizer, source and last-checked date, and can be flagged by anyone as outdated or cancelled. Directory entries show the source and review date and can be corrected by anyone through the suggestion form. Both are moderated by people. See the community guidelines for what we accept.

What we do not cover

We do not give legal, immigration, medical or financial advice, and every factual guide says so. We do not rate neighbourhoods for safety, do not describe neighbourhoods by the ethnicity, religion, nationality or family status of their residents, and do not steer anyone toward or away from a community on those grounds. We do not publish listings of properties.

Questions people ask

Who writes the guides?

The Bonjour Calgary editorial team, working for the publisher, REPYYC. Where a named contributor writes a piece, their name appears as the author. Drafting may use AI tools; people check every fact against the linked sources before publication.

Can an organization pay to be described more favourably?

No. Directory entries and guides are factual and based on public sources. Paid placements, if introduced, change where something appears, never what it says.

How do I get something corrected?

Use the corrections form linked at the bottom of every guide, or email info@repyyc.com. We fix confirmed errors on the page, update the last-reviewed date and keep a log.
